How can I buy a pirate ship or a sail boat to convert into a pirate ship?

I am looking to start a Pirates themed dinner cruise in my area, and I am trying to find out how to actually purchase a pirate ship. I don't expect to find an actual pirate ship, but rather an old looking wooden sail boat I can convert.

  1. Ebay... duh
  2. there are a many tallships in the whitsundays australia in charter already i bet one of the companies would part with one at the right price. paint it black and presto a pirate ship
  3. There are old ships available, one sank in our marina last year, MD Try "Soundings". It is a newspaper for sale of boats. It has an online version. Also try boating magazines that feature a for sale list.
  4. The trade magazine is called "Boats & Harbors". It's published 3 times a month. Do a Web search to find their site. This magazine contains primarily commerical marine equipment and boats. You can also review tug boats and barges. Anyone with a commerical boat to sell will advertize here. As a word of advice from a person who owned a 'pirate' charter boat and has done what you want to do. A wooden boat that can carry more than 6 persons that you can convert will likely not meet CG requirements. Unless a boat was built from the keel up with charter work in mind, it is usually prohibitively expensive to make it so.
  5. If you don't know anything about sailboat (pirate ship) you should ask a yacht lawyer to make sure that there is no hidden problem with the ship and/or sea worthy. A 58" ship can cost any from $80,000 and up, it all depends on the year. Here;s one for sale from yacht world. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1493057/0, you can also buy magazine from your local book stores. Here is a website for a yacht lawyers, http://www.yachtlawyers.com/ . They have offices in Florida and in Europe, they also have a broker and an accountant ready to help you with all your need.
  6. good idea yours my friend. listen, Turkish boat builders have been building Motor/sailing boats for this purpose. Here in Malta we use them for tourist cruises etc... they have a beautiful shape and compared to other boats are cheap. search for them on the net i am sure you can find some examples.
  7. The last time I was in St. Thomas, there was a purpose built Pirate Ship that was just sitting there looking for a new owner. Try contacting the harbor master in St. Thomas and see if it's still there. I also heard that the second boat used for the filming of "Captain Ron" and was NOT the one burned, used to be for sale... at that time, she was lying in Galveston. Yo, ho,ho... I wish you luck
