How do you block banner ads without software?
I used to be able to make the ads either not appear altogether, or have them blocked by my Firewall, but since I've updated it, my blocked websites list is gone. What are the sites you're supposed to put into it so that the ads don't pop up? Also, I think there's a way to block them by changing some code somewhere... If anyone can help me out with this, it would be great. Also, I use Mozilla, if that makes a difference.

- Imagine the site is your own and it costs you a heap of money to run it. You get that money by people advertising on your site. You sign a contract with the advertiser. If you allow your users to hide/delete the ad, you are in breach of contract. It is the banner ads that pay for what you get for free. Interfering with them is often a banning issue because the website owner has to protect himself from getting sued by the advertiser
- You can use this to populate your list again: http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/ And if you want to protect firefox, you can install the firefox plugin Adblock Plus https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 You can also block ads by using a proxy server: http://www.proxyway.com/www/ad-blocker.html hope this helps.
- I recommend Adblock Plus for Mozilla Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 You can also subscribe to other lists that will automatically block a lot of ad's. Adblock Plus comes with EasyList when you install it I believe. https://easylist.adblockplus.org/
- I'm also using ad block plus to block ads. However ad block plus not works with Yahoo ads(rds.yahoo) and some of google ads. Ad block plus is however better so far.
